Fjords uses a through-dyed process, scratches and cuts are less noticeable. With this process, dye colors at the top of the hide, all the way through the bottom. So, when a scratch accidentally happens, the color stays the same, unlike cheaply dyed leather, in which the scratch would show up white. On darker colored leathers, this blemish would be highly noticeable.
Thankfully, Fjords leather furniture is easy to take care of, naturally durable and becomes more beautiful with use. Here are some tips to keep your top grain leather furniture from Fjords in optimal condition:
This is our best leather, and cannot be produced
from just any bovine(cow) hide. This makes the raw
material costs significantly higher than NL grade, as
the hides must be relatively free of marks and have
unusable areas that do not meet Astro Line standards.
This is our mid-grade leather, and cannot be produced
from just any bovine(cow) hide. Soft Line Leather hides
must be relatively free of marks and are priced accordingly.
It is uncorrected , meaning the surface of the hide has not been
sanded smooth to remove imperfections and natural marks.
This gives the leather natural variation in grain, and an improved
look and feel. The top grain leather has been mechanically
stretched and flattened at the tannery for a smoother appearance.
Our entry grade leather can be produced from almost
any bovine(cow) hide. This makes the raw material costs
as low as possible. It has been corrected , meaning the
surface of the hide has been sanded smooth to remove
imperfections and natural marks, and then a consistent
grain pattern is then embossed onto the prepared surface
at the tannery. This gives the leather a very even, consistent
appearance and feel.
