In the furniture industry, the four qualities to look for are composition, light fastness, pilling and Martindale rub (abrasion resistance). In addition to regular wear and tear, these qualities can affect how long your furniture maintains its good condition. Tips to keep your Fjords fabric-covered furniture in optimal condition: 

  • Regular Vacuuming: Use the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove dust and prevent it from settling into the fibers. This should be done weekly. 
  • Quickly Clean Spills: If a spill occurs, quickly blot it with a clean, dry cloth to prevent it from soaking in. Do not rub as it may cause the stain to spread or deepen. 
  • Professional Cleaning: We recommend professional cleaning for a deep clean every 12-18 months or immediately if a stubborn stain occurs. 
  • Avoid Clothing Dye Mishaps: Be careful when wearing new clothes, as darker-colored dyes can transfer onto lighter-colored fabrics.
